Come one, come all to the 2023 HOLIDAY BAZAAR on Friday, December 8, 2023, at 11am. At noon, see a lovely demonstration performed by Ohara School’s Yasuko Naiki and Yoshiko Gilli: "Holiday Arrangements."

Yoshiko Gilli was born in Nagasaki, Japan and moved to California when she was 10 years old. She began studying Ohara Ikebana in 1989. Mrs. Fujimoto has been her teacher since she began her studies. She received the Associate 1st Term Master degree in 2023. She belongs to the Ohara Ikebana School Northern California Chapter, Ikebana International and the Ikebana Teachers Federation. She has participated in I.I. flower shows and displayed at Bouquets to Art, San Francisco Cherry Blossom Festival and displayed and demonstrated at the Ohara Chapter’s flower shows. She began teaching in Sacramento in 2021.

Yasuko Suisho Naiki was born in Tokyo and raised in Ohio, California and Tokyo. She received the Associate 2nd Term Master degree in 2023. She first encountered Ohara Ikebana when she transferred from an International School in Tokyo into a Japanese high school in Shizuoka Japan, where Ikebana was offered as an after school activity. She continued flower arrangement through high school and into her freshman year in college and received her Instructor degree. She resumed her studies with Fujimoto sensei in 2011. Yasuko is a member of Ohara Ikebana School of Northern California Chapter, Ikebana International and Ikebana Teachers Federation. She has demonstrated and participated in Ohara Ikebana School of Northern California Chapter, Ikebana International and San Francisco Cherry Blossom Festival.

In addition to the demonstration, there will be crafts, pottery, plant material, food and baked goods, and holiday arrangements. 

Shop our esteemed potters, Bruno Kark, Thomas and Kathy Arakawa, and new to us - Roy Lizama. These professional potters produce containers for all schools as well as contemporary free-style sculptural containers for arrangements. Other items include tableware for table-scaping this holiday season.

Also shop for Delicious Baked Goods by our members who beautifully package them into hostess gifts, stocking stuffers, or just yummy holiday treats.

City College of San Francisco will bring books and floral design materials to spark your imagination.

Members' Crafts include natural stone jewelry as well as hand-sewn clothing.

SF Chapter Ikebana Supplies Table: We gladly accept cash or personal checks for purchasing Ikebana containers, kenzans, tools and magazines donated by members. If you prefer to use a credit card, please consider adding the three percent fee (3%!) to your purchase. The funds raised help pay for the building rent and our programs.

Most of all just come and enjoy your friends and bring guests, we would love for them to see the demonstration by Ohara and meet us.

    It is too bad I was not aware of this event until now. I would love to get more information of future events. How can I join? Where can I take classes?
