Website Visitors

Regarding Privacy Policies: Like most website operators, Ikebana.org collects non-personally-identifying information of the sort that web browsers and servers typically make available, such as the browser type, language preference, referring site, and the date and time of each visitor request. Ikebana.org’s purpose in collecting non-personally identifying information is to better understand how Ikebana.org’s visitors use its website. From time to time, Ikebana.org may release non-personally-identifying information in the aggregate, e.g., by creating a report for directors to plan for better services in the future.

Ikebana.org also collects potentially personally-identifying information like Internet Protocol (IP) addresses. Ikebana.org does not use such information to identify its visitors, however, and does not disclose such information, other than under the same circumstances that it uses and discloses personally-identifying information, as described below.

Gathering of Personally-Identifying Information

Certain visitors to Ikebana.org’s website choose to interact with Ikebana.org in ways that require Ikebana.org to gather personally-identifying information. The amount and type of information that Ikebana.org gathers depends on the nature of the interaction. For example, we ask visitors who use our forums to provide a username and email address. In each case, Ikebana.org collects such information only insofar as is necessary or appropriate to fulfill the purpose of the visitor’s interaction with Ikebana.org. Ikebana.org does not disclose personally-identifying information other than as described below. And visitors can always refuse to supply personally-identifying information, with the caveat that it may prevent them from engaging in certain website-related activities that Ikebana members enjoy as a result of their membership.

Aggregated Statistics

Ikebana.org may collect statistics about the behavior of visitors to its website. For instance, Ikebana.org may reveal how many views a page, image or downloads got. However, Ikebana.org does not disclose personally-identifying information other than as described below.

Protection of Certain Personally-Identifying Information

Ikebana.org discloses potentially personally-identifying and personally-identifying information only to those of its employees, contractors, and affiliated organizations that (i) need to know that information in order to process it on Ikebana.org’s behalf or to provide services available at Ikebana.org’s website, and (ii) that have agreed not to disclose it to others. Other than to its employees, contractors, and affiliated organizations, as described above, Ikebana.org discloses potentially personally-identifying and personally-identifying information only when required to do so by law, or when Ikebana.org believes in good faith that disclosure is reasonably necessary to protect the property or rights of Ikebana.org, third parties, or the public at large. If you are a registered user of a Ikebana.org website and have supplied your email address, Ikebana.org may occasionally send you an email to tell you about new features, solicit your feedback, or just keep you up to date with what’s going on with Ikebana.org and our products. We primarily use our website to communicate this type of information, so we expect to keep this type of email to a minimum. If you send us a request (for example via a support email or via one of our feedback mechanisms), we reserve the right to publish it in order to help us clarify or respond to your request or to help us support other Ikebana members so that members can reach each other as needed. Ikebana.org takes all measures reasonably necessary to protect against the unauthorized access, use, alteration, or destruction of potentially personally-identifying and personally-identifying information.

How long we retain your data

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

For users that register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.

If you wish that certain comments you have made in a post to be deleted, please contact us and we will remove it. Please allow a reasonable amount of time in order for this to be done for you. You can use our contact form for this. Please provide your name, email, and the location of the comment: Copy the page location, and a description of your comment you wish to be deleted.

We may use selected comments you make on our Facebook and YouTube Channels, as well as this website in a testimonials/comment block in various pages on our website to encourage the learning of Ikebana and to attend future events.
