Kayoko Suiyo Fujimoto celebrates her 90th birthday with an Ohara School demonstration. She is the chapter’s Ohara School Teacher Advisor. Mrs. Fujimoto received the Order of the Rising Sun, Golden and Silver Rays, in 2010 from the government of Japan for her years of service to the art of ikebana and the traditional culture of Japan. Fujimoto-sensei holds many other honors as well, among them is Honorary Lifetime Member of the Ohara School, member of San Francisco’s Bunka Hall of Fame, and officer of Chado Urusenke Tankoukai of San Francisco. Her name has been inscribed on a tablet at Ohara School headquarters in Kobe, Japan – a rare honor. She has taught Ohara ikebana and tea ceremony throughout Northern California for decades and has presented many Ohara ikebana flower shows.
I have never been to one of your events, is membership or a reservation required?
The public is invited to our monthly program by making advance reservation with membership chair Pauline Pezzolo at ppezzolo@att.ne. Entrance fee is $5.00. We do, however, encourage people to become a member after two visits. The complete listing of 2015-2016 programs can be found at http://www.ikebana.org/2015-2016-programs/
