Brent Dennis became the Director of the San Francisco Botanical Garden and Conservatory of Flowers in June 2007. He also directs activity at the Golden Gate Park Nursery and Growing Greenhouses for the San Francisco Recreation & Parks Department. He is a very busy man, but is accustomed to filling many roles in his professional life. In spite of his demanding duties, Brent still finds time to watch ikebana demonstrations and exhibitions given by the chapter and has created arrangements for exhibit. He is truly a man of many interests and commitments, involved in all aspects of his chosen profession.

Before accepting his San Francisco position, Brent had a long and impressive history with several major landscape and botanical garden organizations in Michigan and Ohio. Among many projects, his background includes work as a landscape architect and his active membership in the American Society of Landscape Architects (ASLA), Design Director for AmeriFlora's first international garden festival (the first held in the USA), designing gardens for international festivals in England, Japan, and winning a silver medal at the 1988 Glasgow, Scotland Garden Festival, creating large exhibitions such as "The Butterfly Garden", "The Weather Adventure", "Edible Expeditions", "Mesozoic Roots: An Adventure Through Prehistoric Landscapes", teaching landscape architecture in colleges, radio host (Gardening with Brent), consultant for botanical gardens and sculpture parks, developing master and long range plans for botanical garden projects, developing garden exhibits for recreational facilities, bikeways, nature trails, and a zoo. Brent is a member of many professional landscape, garden and zoological groups.
