Nancy Seirin Locke has taught
ikebana in Burlingame and San Mateo since 1998. Having studied Wafu ikebana
with Seiga Hoyrup since 1990, she now holds the rank of Sanyo and was given the
ikebana name of Seirin (Pure Sparkle). She is known for
inspirational teaching, helping her students to look at floral materials with
fresh eyes and to create beautiful fresh arrangements. Her
expertise in ikebana design and experience in horticulture and gardening is
intrinsic to her work and is passed along to her students.
Nancy participates actively in ikebana events in addition to
teaching. She is a board member of the San Francisco chapter of Ikebana
International. Her arrangements have been exhibited at the biennial Wafukai
Flower Shows in Cupertino, Filoli Estates Spring Flower Show in Woodside,
the Asian Art Museum, Ikebana International shows in San Francisco, Bouquets to
Art at the Fine Arts Museum, and the Presidio Officers Club in San
Francisco.
She demonstrates ikebana often, including shows for the annual
San Francisco Cherry Blossom Festival, Ikebana International in San Francisco
and Sacramento, the Interior Design Department at Canada College in Redwood
City, Wafukai Ikebana Society in Cupertino, and San Mateo Arboretum Society,
and other social and garden clubs. |
