Ikenobo Ikebana's visiting professor in residence, Yasufumi
Sasayama, presented an exuberant program of Ikenobo arrangments in November. He
is a senior professor from Omura City, Nagasaki Prefecture, Kyushu. In his 15
years of ikebana study, Professor Sasayama has graduated from both the Advanced
Course and the Specialized Course in Classic Rikka at Ikenobo Headquarters in
Kyoto, Japan. He was a member of the delegations from Japan for both the 20th
and 30th Anniversary events of Ikenobo Ikebana Society of America in San
Francisco. Professor Sasayama also participated in an Ikenobo cultural
delegation to Shanghai, China in 1999. In addition to his teaching positions,
he is an ikebana instructor for personnel at the Omura Naval Air Station.
