Shoka Narimatsu shared her radiant ikebana talent with us to celebrate her career of teaching Sogetsu ikebana for 50 years. Since she first earned her teaching degree in Tokyo half a century ago, she has brought the gift of ikebana to countless students and established a reputation for ikebana of the highest quality throughout the Bay Area and beyond. Mme. Narimatsu became a "Riji" of Sogetsu in 1971 and was honored by the late founder of Sogetsu, Sofu Teshigahara, with the Mohansho award which recognized her stature as a model teacher. She also earned the rare "Sofu sho" Oiemoto award in 1981. Her work is marked by great originality and consumate technical skill, always presented with humor and joy.
