Headmaster Seigyo Aratame made his first
visit to the chapter to demonstrate Aratame ikebana. Born in Tokyo, he began
ikebana studies with the late Teshigahara Wafu and by 1975 was teaching ikebana
in Tokyo. Since 1980 he has presented several ikebana exhibitions in prominent
venues including Tochigi Cultural Center, Sansoji Temple, and a joint show with
ceramicist Akira Kikuchi at Ginza Matsuya Department Store in Tokyo. In 1993 he
established the Aratame School of Ikebana and made his first appearance in San
Francisco in March. |
