Kayoko Suiyo Fujimoto, Ohara School

Kayoko Fujimoto is Ohara School Teacher Advisor to the chapter and has been a treasured resource of the chapter for decades. She holds Ohara's prestigious title of Grandmaster. In 1978 the late Headmaster Houn Ohara awarded her the rare Citation for Meritorious Service to Ohara Ikebana. In addition to teaching ikebana, she demonstrates and exhibits regularly throughout the San Francisco Bay Area for many garden groups, social clubs and Japanese community organizations. Her formidable artistic talents are complemented by administrative skill and she has served with distinction as an officer for several ikebana organizations. Ms. Fujimoto is a past president (1967-1997) and current advisor to the Ohara Ikebana School of Northern California Chapter. She also is a charter member of the Ikebana Teachers Federation for which she served as president four times. In addition to her many ikebana affiliations, she is a member of the board for the Urasenke San Francisco Chapter.
