Kathy Toy is an Associate 2nd Master of the Ohara School of
Ikebana. For the past five years she has taught ikebana at Hakone Gardens in
Saratoga, CA and at Filoli Gardens in Woodside. With a degree in Interior
Design, Kathy was a consulting designer for three decades. Her lively interests
also led her to study mechanical engineering and graduate studies in English
literature. While living in Tokyo in 1988 she studied Ohara ikebana daily with
Rieko Iishi. Upon her return to the USA she continued to study with Ingrid
Lüders, a Grand Master of Ohara. Kathy travels to Tokyo occasionally to
study with master teachers. After retiring from her design practice, Kathy
dedicates much of her time to the study and teaching of ikebana. |
