Kimi Kodani Hill, historian of the artistically renowned Obata family and granddaughter of Chiura and Haruko Obata, presented images and discussed the experiences and accomplishments of her grandparents. Haruko Obata was an eminent teacher of Ikebana in the Bay Area as well as a founding member of the chapter. Of particular interest is her work teaching Ikebana while an internee during WW II. Ms. Hill showed images which highlight the Obatas' determined pursuit of their art even in times of deprivation. |
